What sort of spiritual training do you practice?
Not just a question directed at our Admin :-).
I have laways been a physical sort of martial artist.
I don;t like esorterical answers to question. I have always said that a study of martial arts is nothing more than biology and physics.
Biology tells us an elbow is a hinge and only bends in one direction. Physics tells us about levers and fulcrums. Put teh two together ...........Muso Dori ( Arm Bar) :-)
Recenlty I have been reading a lot on Zen. This has kinda put me on a Musha Shugyo ( Warrior Quest) LOL ;-)
I seem to be seeing everything in threes :-)
I have often stressed teh importance of Distance, Balence and Timing within training.
Of late I have been talking about Skill, Experience and Knowledge
Which makes me wonder about teh next step.
Distance Balence and Timing = Physical
Knowledge, Skill and Experience = Mental
Heart, Mind and Soul ???? = Spiritual ???
What do you look for ?
Any and all help greatly received LOL

Re: What style
well it`s not spititual as in spiritual sorry. I mean the learnin of breathin and the movement of chi around the body and how it relaxes u. if u know what i mean. its hard to put into words
Re: What style
've always found it a natural part of my training , to me it's how my mind has evolved aswell as my body , thru years of grueling training at those moments when you feel you cant do any more , cant lift your hand 1 more time , that moment when you truely know yourself , to me you dont get closer contact with your spirtit.
in my third mma fight i found i was very out skilled , took a real beating , but i kept my head up , pushed hard and waited for my moment , caught him with a cracking elbow , shot him too the ground chocked him out with a giloutine .
won the fight .
that was'nt my body that won , it had long given up with exuastion , it was my mind and spirit.
we've all been there , sometime .
cheers

Re: What style
ts ok havin muscles all over but u have to have a strong mind. ur inner body is where it counts if when sparin and ur opponiant gets u with a good shot and u show nothin it discourages him a little. It may hurt but if u show nothin ur half way to winning. A strong mind is and inner strength is far better. We do alot of qi and i like the feeling when doin it.

Seeing all this experience you guys i have i feel so small lol. i've been learning taekwondo for about 5 years, i got my 1st degree. i'm in the world tkd federation branch. mostly i concentrate on forms, they're my favorite aspect of the style. fighting is not important to me. i work a lot on my basic techniques, sparring moves and self defense moves.
