sword ban " the truth" Empty sword ban " the truth"

hi
i have been researching the sword ban ,as i wanted to do an article for mai and a local paper so i spoke to the government and parliament today .
at present there is no set white paper , of any sort , just people panicing .
there will be legislation of type , BUT at present this will only cover cheap readily available set's and the retailers that can sell them , they are still looking at the possibility of licencing for martial arts use .
nothing is set in stone , they have NOT even looked at a set white paper , and it's not even being discussed till febuary .they may not bring in any bill as of yet , could take 5 years to implicate ( depends on governmental support )

the guidlines that were published were written by a reporter and not of fact just some ideas that are being circulated .
the reason there is next to no info on the ban is because there is no info and at present .

we will just have to wait and see.

cheers
matt

to be honest I don;t think we stand a chance here....teh media has presented the weapon as 'THE' weapon of the 21st century criminal.

Despite 3 people being killed by small knives in the first 2 weeks of the year.

But 'Sword weilding manic kills' will always sell more papers than 'Potato peeler wound 2'

Sad

It will be at least April till any sort of ban, seems strange as the the law already covers offensive weapons ie anythink made or adapted to cause injury to another. Banning swords won't stop the stabbings which are now a daily occurence ) have you seen some of the kitchen knives you can get !!!)
