What do you call yourself ???

Do you refer to yourself as Sensei or Shihan ?

One of my pet hates is hearing someone refering to themselves in this context.

I certainly don't sign anything off as Merlyn Sensei or design posteres or adverts with 'train with Merlyn Sensei'

Sensei is a title or repect that others bestow upon you. It is not a title of rank. Anyone can be a sensei. If someone has something to show you then they are sensei.

The same with Shihan. This is not a title to aspire to attain. It is a title that those who respect and learn from you bestow upon you.

Just me letting off some steam after reading a few posters of upcoming seminars LOL.
